'North of the 45th' Art Exhibit Seeks Entries

NMU's DeVos Art Museum

Northern Michigan University's DeVos Art Museum is accepting submissions through March 22 for the 2023 “North of the 45th: 16th Annual Upper Midwest Juried Exhibition." Artists living in Michigan, Wisconsin or Minnesota north of the 45th parallel are invited to submit their work.

This year's juror is Michael Andrews, an artist and educator who worked in college-level art schools, artist residencies, nonprofits, small business incubators and design-focused retail. Andrews earned his BFA from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Andrews will decide the exhibition winners and gift the Jurors' Choice award, with a prize of $500. Other prizes include the Audience Choice award, based on votes by visitors to the exhibition, and a Permanent Collection Acquisition Award.

The deadline to submit is at 11:59 p.m. EST Wednesday, March 22, with a five-piece submission cap. Work in all media created in the last three years that hasn't previously been exhibited at the museum is welcome. All entries must be submitted by creating an account at devos.slideroom.com and paying a $20 fee.

The North of the 45th exhibition will be on display June 23-July 28. Find more information or apply here.
