The Northern Michigan University Alumni Association continues Northern Now, a monthly digital event series for alumni and friends, at 7 p.m. EST Wednesday, March 10. A panel of alumni, faculty and students from the NMU School of Education will discuss the importance of relationships and creating a strong network throughout one's educational and professional career.
The panelists are: Andrea Ballard EDS '19, superintendent and principal at North Star Montessori Academy in Marquette; Cameron Bancroft BS '13, teacher at Bothwell Middle School in Marquette and NMU teacher education mentor; and Hannah Moberg, current elementary education mathematics student and student-teacher at Thunder Ridge Middle School in Aurora, Col.
Associate Dean and Director of Education, Leadership and Public Service Joe Lubig (BS '91, MAE '00) will moderate the event and take audience questions live.
“We are excited to connect with alumni to tell the rich story as to how education graduates have used their degrees to lead, support the development of future educators, and engage in local, state, and national learning,” said Lubig. “This is a great opportunity to demonstrate how we build and foster relationships with students and families to improve teaching and learning, which is critical to the improvement of our schools and communities.”
With different perspectives on the topic, the panelists will share their experiences and discuss current events and how their network has helped them survive, and even thrive, during these unprecedented circumstances. Alumni and the NMU community can register for the event here to receive the link to the live stream.
Taking place on the second Wednesday of each month, the Northern Now series provides a behind-the-scenes look at NMU students, departments, athletics and more on campus with exclusive tours, interviews and interactive events.
