Plourde Named School Superintendent

Northern Michigan University alumnus Michael Plourde has been chosen as the new superintendent of Meridian Community Unit School District #223 in Illinois, effective July 1. He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics/secondary education with a minor in geography/secondary education from NMU in 2005. 

“I am deeply honored and excited to serve as superintendent of the Meridain Community Unit School District #223,” said Plourde, who is currently superintendent of Wilmont Union High School in Kenosha, Wis. “It's a dream job for me. The district's mission, vision and core values align close with my beliefs. My leadership style is rooted in honesty, transparency and integrity.” 

Plourde also holds a Doctor of Leadership in Educational Administration and a master's in educational leadership from Aurora University.
