Professor Shares Expertise on Police Projectiles

Charlie Mesloh, NMU criminal justice professor and certified instructor on the use of police projectiles, shares his expertise in a June 22 USA Today report on serious injuries that have resulted from "less-lethal" projectiles fired at protesters. 

Mesloh stated in the article that there are no manufacturing standards or quality control measures in place for them, and that “On day one of training, they tell you, ‘Don't shoot anywhere near the head or neck.' That's considered deadly force.” He added that police can also make dangerous errors if they shoot projectiles while wearing low-visibility gas masks.
