River Valley Bank presented a $5,000 check to the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center as the title sponsor of the Hope Starts Here Challenge. The event raises funds and awareness for the UMBTC, a collaborative effort between UP Health System, Northern Michigan University and the Superior Health Foundation. The UMBTC's mission is to empower patients and families dealing with brain tumors through advocacy, research, education and treatment.

“We are extremely grateful for River Valley Bank's dedicated and continued support,” said Amber LaCrosse, director of the UMBTC lab at NMU. “They not only contribute a generous amount of money, but they're heavily involved in the planning and marketing from start to finish. It's amazing the Hope Starts Here fundraiser has helped to sustain the lab for nearly 14 years. The community makes this happen.”

“As part of our core values, River Valley Bank believes in giving back to the communities that we serve,” said Ashley Cody, River Valley Bank vice president and market manager. “We do that through both monetary donations and volunteer time. We are proud to support Hope Starts Here and the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center.”

The 2019 River Valley Bank Hope Starts Here Challenge will be held on Saturday, May 11. It features 5K, 10K and half-marathon runs, a duathlon and a leisurely walk. For more information or to register, click here
