Springhetti is an NMU Outstanding Grad

Katharina Springhetti of Tramin, Italy is the Northern Michigan University School of Health and Human Performance 2020-21 outstanding graduating senior. She will receive her bachelor's degree in sports science with a 3.81 grade-point average on May 1. Springhetti also competed on the NMU Swim and Dive Team as a national-level qualifier.

Academically, she attended professional conferences with sports science faculty, helped to conduct research in the Exercise Science Laboratory, served as a subject in a master's thesis about blood flow restriction training, and was a teaching assistant for a senior-level physiology of training class. 

Springhetti accumulated more than 50 hours of community service endeavors. She plans to pursue graduate school in Europe. She grew up speaking Italian and German and is now fluent in English. 

NMU's virtual commencement will be held at 10 a.m. EST Saturday, May 1. Bryan Terrell Clark, a Broadway performer who played George Washington in Hamilton, will be the keynote speaker. Learn more about commencement and access a link to watch it live at www.nmu.edu/commencement.
