Tillotson an Outstanding NMU Grad

Taylor Tillotson of Renton, Wash., has been named the Northern Michigan University School of Education, Leadership and Public Service 2020-21 outstanding graduating graduate student from the educational instruction program. He will earn his master's degree May 1.

Tillotson has a rich history at NMU that started when he was an honors student in the secondary education social studies program. He presented his research at the 2013 American Educational Research Association Convention. Tillotson graduated summa cum laude as a Lundin Scholar in December 2014 and received the NMU School of Education Director's Award for outstanding accomplishments. 

Tillotson taught at the International School of Bellevue, Wash., and currently teaches at Odle Middle School. He teaches seventh- and eighth-grade social studies, serves as the district leader for eighth-grade U.S. history and is a union representative.

NMU's virtual commencement will be held at 10 a.m. EST Saturday, May 1. Bryan Terrell Clark, a Broadway performer who played George Washington in Hamilton, will be the keynote speaker. Learn more about commencement and access a link to watch it live at www.nmu.edu/commencement.
