'Tribal Justice' Film and Discussion at NMU

Tribal Justice

Northern Michigan University's Center for Native American Studies and the Michigan Supreme Court State Administration Office will present a free screening of the documentary, “Tribal Justice,” followed by a panel discussion featuring five judges. The event begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the Whitman Hall commons at NMU. 

The following judges will participate in a panel discussion after the 90-minute film: Cheryl Hill of Marquette Co. Probate Court; Violet Ayres, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community; Robert Butts, Cheboygan Co. Probate Court; Jocelyn Fabry, Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians; and Timothy Greeley, U.S. District Court, Western District of Michigan. 

The Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, the Michigan Court Improvement Program and the NMU Center for Native American Studies are sponsoring the event.
