Alumna Earns Outstanding Staff Award

Sarah Davy

Northern Michigan University 2005 MPA alumna Sarah Davy is one of two recipients of the 2023 Bay College Outstanding Staff Award. She serves as academic support coordinator for Bay's West Campus, working directly with students and connecting them with college and local resources aiding in their academic success. She also works with business technology and TRiO students, supporting them in their individualized career plans and/or the completion of their chosen degree path.

"She is always kind, helpful and caring in her communications with others," stated a press release description. "She has a calming demeanor that makes others feel comfortable and cared for and when dealing with personal concerns, she does so calmly and reassuringly. Davy is proactive and works to ensure students stay on track with their academic plans. A colleague of Sarah's said, 'The fact that I feel like I know her despite never meeting her in person is indicative of how she engages with her colleagues.'”

Prior to joining Bay College in 2019, Davy was employed at NMU in a variety of positions: resident director of Spalding Hall; graduate assistant in the Dean of Students Office; and an assistant director of Housing and Residence Life.

Any Bay College employee, board member, student, alumni or community member may nominate an employee for the Bay College Outstanding Staff Award. These individuals must have completed three years of employment at Bay College. Nominees are judged by their job knowledge; respect and enthusiasm toward colleagues, students and community members; creating a positive influence within the work environment; and collaboratively working with colleagues and staff.
