Grad Reflects on Packers' Titletown Internship

As the NFL season ramps up, a 2023 NMU graduate is reflecting on the digital content internship for the Green Bay Packers' community development, Titletown, this past spring. Communication and media studies alumnus Will Corgan said the opportunity pushed him to take projects further, taught him about self-confidence, and helped to prepare him for his new career.

“Northern Michigan University played a big role in helping me land this internship, primarily because of its people,” Corgan explained. “My capstone professor, Sara Potter [Communication and Media Studies), was instrumental in guiding me through the process. She and other faculty members were deeply committed to student success, helping me network and apply for opportunities that fit my career goals.

“My time at NMU gave me valuable experience in digital media and built a network of meaningful connections. Working on class projects and collaborating with like-minded peers gave me a strong foundation in creativity and teamwork,” he continued.

During the internship, Corgan was involved in creating social media content across various platforms to engage the community, including graphics, TikTok videos, and photography. He also collaborated with team members to brainstorm content ideas, manage projects, and ensure that social media presence aligned with the Packers' brand.

“The internship expanded my understanding of design and digital media and taught me the importance of flexibility and collaboration in fast-paced environments—skills essential to the field,” reported Corgan.

The overarching purpose of Corgan's role was to enhance community engagement through dynamic digital content while reinforcing the Packers' presence within the local community.

“The most rewarding part was staying connected to the team I grew up supporting by contributing to their brand. It allowed me to merge my passion for design and community, all while learning more about the social impact of an organization like the Packers."

Corgan expressed his gratitude surrounding the opportunity to work alongside "an open-hearted team within a beautifully connected community." Despite Green Bay's 100,000 residents, Corgan contends that the city maintains a homey, small town atmosphere in which acts of kindness abound.

“Green Bay has more hustle and bustle compared to Marquette, likely due to its connection with the Packers," he said. "However, both cities maintain that ‘Midwest nice,' with tight-knit communities and a slower pace compared to larger cities. Green Bay is small for hosting a national football team. Both cities share a sense of pride and support for their local institutions."

Corgan attributes this interconnectedness to Titletown, a community development just west of Lambeau Field whose unique location offers opportunities for community engagement year round.

“Just over the past seven years, Titletown has quickly become the community's third place, offering nearly everything at no cost to visitors and open to everyone. Today, places like Titletown are vital in bringing people closer together, fostering connections, and building a sense of community. It has given families and friends the chance to create lasting memories. Witnessing this firsthand makes me proud to say I worked there.”

Corgan is currently a digital strategist at Central Michigan University. He has aspirations of growth in the digital marketing space, seeking to take on leadership roles where he can contribute to brand strategies.

As evidenced by this scrapbook page, Corgan was a Packer backer from a young age.
