Student Researches Time-of-Death Indicator

A Northern Michigan University student completed summer research that could help determine the time of death in criminal investigations. Senior biology major Riley Jepkema of Kalamazoo collaborated with Forensic Research Outdoor Station (FROST) director Jane Wankmiller on the project. Jepkema received a $5,000 Anna and Rich Lundin Honors Summer Research Fellowship to conduct her research. 

NMU Hosts College Fair

Northern Michigan University will host the Marquette/Alger Counties College Fair from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Northern Center Grand Ballroom. The program is open to all high school juniors, seniors and their parents.

NMU Plans Building Dedications

Sep. 9, 2019 —
Northern Michigan University will hold building dedications open to the public during Homecoming Week. A dedication with public  tours of the Northern Center, formerly the University Center, will occur from 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19. A renaming ceremony for Kathleen Shingler Weston Hall, formerly the New Science Facility, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. During the ceremony, NMU will also name the building's main lounge space as the David J. Lucas Atrium. 

Alumna Exhibits Photography

Sep. 9, 2019 —
NMU alumna Christine Garceau's ('81 BS '87 MA) photography is featured in an exhibit titled “Unseen Visions,” which opened Sept. 5 at Plaza Diane in Powell, Wyo. The exhibit showcases the work of Garceau and other photographic communications faculty from Northwest College in Powell.

Green and Gold Gala Ticket Deadline Sept. 10

The ticket purchase deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 10 for Northern Michigan University's Green and Gold Gala. The event will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at the newly renovated Northern Center. Proceeds will benefit the NMU Student Flexible Aid Endowed Fund, which provides urgently needed financial resources so that students can stay in school when unanticipated expenses threaten their education.
