Hall of Fame Inductees Have NMU Ties

Half of the 10 new U.P. Sports Hall of Fame inductees announced Aug. 3 have ties to Northern Michigan University. They include Al Mitchell, former U.S. Olympic Education Center boxing coach who currently coaches onetime NMU student and Olympian-turned-pro boxer Mikaela Mayer, and Todd Dagenais, former Wildcat assistant volleyball coach who now heads an NCAA Division I program. 

NMU Partners with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Inc.

In response to the rapid growth of its first-in-the-nation medicinal plant chemistry program, Northern Michigan University has established an academic partnership with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Inc. The collaboration includes an in-kind donation to equip a new chemistry laboratory, a framework for research collaborations and internship opportunities for students.

NMU Sets Tuition, Remains Second-Most Affordable in State

Northern Michigan University will preserve its longtime rank of second-lowest tuition and fees among Michigan's 15 public universities after the NMU Board of Trustees today approved tuition and fees for the 2019-20 academic year. The board also increased university-funded financial aid by $1 million and emphasized the importance of continued strategic investment to enhance the student experience and value of an NMU degree.

NMU's FROST Hosts Bone ID Workshop

Jul. 11, 2019 —
A “Human v. Non-Human Bone Identification” workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, in room 122 of the Jacobetti Complex at Northern Michigan University. The NMU Forensic Research Outdoor Station (FROST) has invited Michigan State University forensic anthropologist Joseph Hefner to lead the program, which is designed for those who may encounter skeletal remains during their daily work duties.
